Description

ADRA Slovenia restores dignity to people through transparent and professional cooperation. They achieve measurable and lasting change in society through the implementation of projects in the 1) fields of education, 2) health, 3) social inclusion, 4) development/ humanitarian aid, 5) international development aid and 6) crisis and natural disaster response.

From the very beginning, ADRA has responded promptly to the consequences of the disaster in Slovenia. On the ground, in cooperation with the fire brigade and civil protection, they have helped many residents in a dynamic and organized manner.

In times of floods or other disasters, the natural inclination of ADRA to show solidarity and help is most pronounced. Although panic is understandable in times of crisis and immediate assistance is necessary, it must be kept in mind that floods leave behind long-term consequences that require sustained efforts.

ADRA Slovenia is a part of an international humanitarian network, locally working inside Sovenia. It was founded by members of the Adventist Christian Church.

Campaign objectives

ADRA’s goal is ensuring a comprehensive flood response and building resilient communities that can better withstand and manage natural disasters while taking care of those in need.

Activities

ADRA has already assisted large numbers of people on the field needing volunteer help with: cleaning, distribution of water, food, hygiene; and assisted those in need also with psycho-social support. ADRA is several regions, current focus being central part of Slovenia and Koroška region.

ADRA took 4 trailers and 9 small trucks to Komenda alone where the damage is really indescribable. ADRA has been claimed as 'The best and most organized team on the ground that has helped us so far.' by the firefighters. In this emergency situation, ADRA is responding quickly and with quality.

It is important to put in place the mentality and structures and plans for the recovery and rehabilitation of affected persons and communities. Statistics show that floods are occurring more and more often. It is therefore crucial to think in advance about long-term solutions that will enable a faster recovery and reduce the impact of any future floods. Let's help now, but let's think ahead.

Who will benefit?
